Ned was my friend. I hadn't known him forever, but long enough to know
that the lanky, redhead was not only bright and capable but a
genuinely warm and caring man who always wanted to do what was right.
I met Ned about six years ago when Y&R had the Lincoln Mercury
account. I was producing web work for the Mountaineer and gas was
about $1.25 a gallon, I think. To my pleasant surprise, I found him to
be a man of integrity, honesty and a whole lot of fun. He quickly
became one of the reasons I liked going to work. During our time
together at the agency, it became part of the job to have a good,
harmless laugh or prank at each other's expense or a willing victim of
our choosing.

He left the agency for a time to find himself in Ventura County and he
asked me to mind the digital practice in his stead - an honor that I
can never adequately thank him for. From Ventura, we would joke about
how he was now in a position to corner the market in driftwood art, at
one point receiving a very clever, hand drawn, one-page business plan
to that effect. Ned was not only my friend, but a diligent
professional capable of great humor amidst all the demands we reserve
for agency life. When I look to all the hard work I did alongside
him, I will always remember the effort that was done for the clients'
benefit but even more so for the times where we just pointed and
laughed at it all.
